Structural Framing is a Fusion 360 add-in for modelling aluminium extrusion, weldment and timber framing. It collects no personal data and contains no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
Your designs stay yours. All geometry, beam parameters, profile selections and preferences created or set while using Structural Framing remain entirely on your local machine, inside your own Fusion 360 documents and local preference files. Nothing about your models is ever transmitted anywhere.
Licence activation — the one thing that is sent
Structural Framing is free to use within a size and quantity limit, with no account and no licence key. In that free mode the add-in itself never contacts a server. (The Pricing and Privacy policy buttons hand a web address to your own browser, which then loads the page — see Links out of the add-in below.)
When you buy a licence and activate it, the add-in contacts our licensing provider, Freemius, Inc., and sends only what is needed to check that the licence is valid:
- the licence key you entered;
- a device identifier — a SHA-256 hash derived from characteristics of your computer. The underlying values themselves are never sent, only the hash, and it is not reversible by inspection. Its only purpose is to tell one installation apart from another so seat limits can be enforced;
- a fixed label for the installation — the text “Structural Framing (Windows)”, identical on every computer. It names the product and platform beside the entry in our licensing dashboard and carries nothing about your machine;
- an installation id, returned by the provider when you activate and sent back when you later refresh or release that installation.
That is the complete list. No name, no email address, no company, no IP- based profiling by us, no filenames, no model data and no usage statistics are transmitted by the add-in.
These requests happen only when you take a deliberate action — activating a licence, refreshing it, or releasing a seat — and when the add-in periodically revalidates a licence you already activated. If you never activate a licence, none of them ever occur.
Freemius processes this data as our licensing provider. Their handling of it is governed by their own privacy policy at freemius.com/privacy. Payment details, if you buy a licence, are collected and processed by Freemius directly — Mecafrog never sees or stores your card details.
Links out of the add-in
The Settings dialog has a Pricing button, a Privacy policy button and a Send feedback button, and the toolbar has a Send Feedback button; each opens a page on our website in your own web browser. The add-in passes a fixed web address to your browser and nothing else — no identifier, no licence key and no tracking parameter of any kind is added to it.
Where things are stored
Your preferences, and any licence record, are stored locally on your own machine: preferences in a file in your user profile; the licence key itself in your operating system's credential store; and a small signed cache file alongside your preferences, recording which modules your licence covers and when it was last checked — this is what lets the add-in keep working while you are offline. Nothing from the add-in is stored on Mecafrog's servers; the feedback form, below, is the one thing our website keeps anything for, briefly.
Diagnostic logs
The add-in writes local diagnostic logs to help investigate problems. These can include the names of your designs and components. The log file is encoded: it is readable by Mecafrog support, not in a text editor. Logs stay on your machine and are never transmitted by the add-in — they reach us only if you choose to send one: attached to an e-mail, or added to the feedback form on our website.
The feedback form
The feedback page on our website can send your message to us directly. It sends what you type in the form, the e-mail address you give so that we can reply, and — only if you add it — one diagnostic log file. They go by e-mail to Mecafrog's mailbox, through our own web host (OVHcloud); no other company receives them. Our server keeps no copy: it checks that the file is a Structural Framing log, sends the message and discards it. To limit abuse, it keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address that can no longer be traced back to you after one hour, and deletes it with the next message it receives. Like any website, our web host's server logs also record the internet address of each visit.
Retention and deletion
Mecafrog keeps only the support and feedback messages you choose to send us, including any log file and your e-mail address, for as long as they help us answer you and improve the add-in. Ask us and we delete them. Where a licence has been activated, the licence key, device hash, installation label and installation id are held by Freemius for the life of the licence so that activations and seat counts can be managed.
Deleting your local Fusion 360 documents and preferences removes everything the add-in ever touched on your machine. To have licence records removed, or to ask what is held, contact us at info@mecafrog.com.
Consent and control
The free tier collects and transmits nothing, so there is nothing to consent to. Activation is an explicit action you choose to take, and you can release a seat at any time from the Settings dialog. Uninstalling the add-in removes it completely.
Children
Structural Framing is a professional engineering tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date above is updated and the revised version is published at this address. Material changes affecting what is transmitted will be described in the add-in's release notes.
